On 11 June 2026, the annual rock festival “Nova Rock” was expected to take place in Nickelsdorf, Burgenland, Austria, attracting more than 200,000 visitors through 14 June 2026. The event was expected to create a significant temporary concentration of people and place pressure on transport infrastructure, with potential impacts on evacuation routes, public safety management, and temporary shelter areas. Copernicus EMS Rapid Mapping was requested to support public safety and operational management activities by providing emergency mapping on human settlements and population dynamics, including analyses of temporary population density, capacity utilization, and evacuation routes.
